nphes: On May 3l 1963 the graduating class of 1953 met at Hotel Hackensack now owned by the brilllant play boy, Lloyd Arras As we sat around the tables he came to greet us At the first table he congratulated the recent winner of the Wimbleton Tennis Tournament in slngles, Vlrgil Harres Wlth Virgll at the table were Ruth Ann Block, a stewardess for North American Air Lines, Alberta Goss, a Power's model, and Lestel Schneider, newly appointed State Auditor of Ill1no1s At the next table sat Marvin Daab, the leadlng scorer for the Boston Cel t1cs Wlth him were Ronald Raeber, head of Indlanapolis Speedway, Donald Lewls, a salesman at Blackburn Motors, and Merel Conaway, Vice Admiral of the Unlted States Navy Next to that table sat the w1fe of the world's leading agrlcultural expert, our own Janet Schmldt She said she would never be an old stick ln the mud and she meant it' Wlth her at the table was Jo Ann Frlerdlch, the Personnel Manager at Internatlonal Shoe Company, Blue Goose Divlsion Also seated at th1s table were Mary Otten, now a commercial artlst for the Palmollve Peet Company, Lucy Andrew, head of the Nat1onal Llbrary 1n Washlngton D C , a d Anetha Bequette, a physical therapy nurse at MiSSOUI1 Paclfic HOSp1t8l in St Louls The girls were discussing Marlene Naumann's sleek hair style Marlene, also seated at the table, was a hair stylist for Metro Goldwyn Mayer Lloyd was about to announce the floor show but stopped as the mllllonaire of the class, Howard Ramsey, walked in was dressed in his cowboy boots, ten gallon hat, and tuxedo Howard started as a small farmer in Texas, and now 1S the president of the largest oil producing companles in North America Wlth Howard was Gene Doerr,a pilot for Pan American Air Llnes, who had flown Howard's private plane to Columbia's Municipal Air Port After various comments, Lloyd announced the floor show The dance band The L ttle Sacks of Hackensack, was led by Glenn Stechmesser Glenn's band had won natlonal acclaim in 1962 and was already on top in 1963 After the band played a little mood music for our dancing, Lloyd announced the main attraction the comedienne who won the Look Award in the field of comedy Everyone Just about sank to the floor when Marilyn Wilde appeared in the spotlight After a little comical entertaining, everyone began dancing, visitlng, inquiring about families and children, etc At mldnight, everyone jolned hands d sang Auld Lang Syne Discussion afterwards centered upon another class reunion in 1973 Submitted by af? any QJQQ ,562-4.1 J Q ' H ' II .
