Its theme, Shakespeare , was chosen by a vote of the class and provided the setting for the deeds and lore of the Class of 1959, as recorded herein. To Mr. Lyons, we owe a debt of gratitude for his talent and con- tribution of time and energy, without which the art committee could not have attained such perfection in beauty and accuracy of design and illustration. We also appreciate very much the assistance and advice given us by Frumkin Studio and O'Toole and Sons, Inc. Caroline Lanford, assistant editor, and my Yearbook Staff gave generously of their time and ability, for which I am deeply grateful. The Columbian could never have been completed had it not been for the invaluable aid and constant guidance of our adviser, Mrs. Doris Gander, to whom above all others we give our warmest thanks. lt is our fervent hope that in recording the events of 1959, we have captured the spirit of Columbia and succeeded in producing a Yearbook in which our fellow Columbians can take great pride. GANDER We, the staff of the 1959 Columbian, are taking this opportunity to express to those who made possible this undertaking, our deepest and most heartfelt thanks. Mrs. Gander and Mr. Lyons have contributed to this record of our Senior year many hours of work and worry without which it would never have gone to press. MR. LYONS With the art department, Mr. Lyons supervised all the art work which went into our yearbook and laid out several major sections of the book for us. Mrs. Gander was a com- bination guardian angel and disciplinarian to us, teaching us the mechanics of our jobs, worrying with us about finances, and advising us on every problem. Working with her has been an experience from which all of us have reaped great benefit. Both have given effort above and beyond the call of duty. For their work as our advisers, we express to them sincere appreciation. The Staff of the 1959 Columbian, CAROLINE LANFORD, DIANE HASTINGS.
