1987 By our junior year, we were well adjusted to life at Colum- bia High. Some of us were amused watching the new sophomores experience the same confusion and ridicule that we did the year before. Al- though we were only the mid- dle class, our junior year was not without its good points. Half of our high school educa- tion was behind us. Our junior year marked the time when most of us had become old enough to drive to school. Homecoming time saw the Class of 1987 win the competi- tion for the second year in a row. At last, we could go to the Prom without needing upper- classmen to go with us. Class officers were: Sharma Atkin- son, President; Bryan Fore- man, Vice-president; Lori Howell, Secretary; and Sheila Shaw, Treasurer. The fall of 1986 saw us as the new seniors. We finally had the senior privileges we had waited three years for: first-in first- out, leaving campus for lunch, final exam exemptions, and wearing shorts near the end of the year. Becoming seniors also meant dual enrollment for some. Grad Nite and Bacca- laureate awaited us near the end of the year. Our first step into the real world, the end of our four-year journey through high school, will be our Gradu- ation Night. Class officers: Sharma Atkinson, President; Tammy Royals, Vice-presi- dent; Stephanie Nettles, Secre- tary; Sheila Shaw, Treasurer; and Tia Barrington, Liaison Officer. We are now at the top, looking down. We will soon fin- ish high school, but as long as we put forth the same effort in our future as we have in the past, the Class of 1987 will al- ways be on top.
