The Sophomores are wide awake. “No other class over them can rate because they are the class of fifty-eight.” Members of the class take part in every school activity------athletics, dramatics, serving for the Junior-Senior Banquet, cheerleading, band------just everything or anywhere. They have already made a good financial start on the Junior-Senior Banquet for 1957. The money making pro- ject was the sale of “Mums” for Homecoming. Thanks to the help of the Mothers, this was a most successful undertaking. Although many vacancies were left from the 1954 season, the Tigers had very good chances. The Tigers made a highly impressive debut in the opening game. The backfield displayed the power of a seasoned squad, , while the line put in some rugged blocking and tack- ling. All fired up after their 14-0 victory over the Ocala Wildcats, they were ready to take on P. K. Younge. Smoth- ering the Blue Waves, our team was well on the march to repeat last years championship. 102 Taming the Tornados from Starke, (Home- coming Tilt) was the fifth job for the Tigers. And that they did. On to Gainesville... Al- though Tigers were hit hard by injuries receiv- ed during previous games, the Gainesville Hurricanes were con- trolled. But then, Leon stepped in, halting the Tiger’s unbeaten streak by a score of 12-6. Even though this ruined the record, Lake City still had another strike at the N. E.
