William Ludwig, coach, adopted 6-man football due to the smallness of the school. Being its first year, Columbia attained considerable success, and other schools recognize the face that this ins- titution must be seriously reckoned with next fall. In football opponents scored 201 points while the bewin ners scored l49 points, a very good showing, the Coach says. Opponents were composed of teams where footballc has been in vogue much longer than at Columbia. This your nes brought about many new changes and 'has added new names to the line-up. Under the direction of Coach Wm. Ludwig and later Mr O Burton, the Coyotes pounced on Paseo Bulldogs for the first game of the season ee well as for the first win. ,During the entire season the team came up against very stiff opposition and many games ended in defeat. , The Coyotes entered the County B-League'lookinC rather favorable. However, during the tournament, three first- string players went off the Line-up. Two were Seniors, Har- vey Mattiee and Richard Uhlingg and Harold Ludwig, a very capable player, moved to Richland. Chances for the title in the League were lost when Columbia was defeated by St. Pets and Prescott. The team felt they had had a successful and enthusiastic season.
