The team's confer- ence record of 6 - 3 placed them third in the conference. Most of this year's players will be returning next year, and with one year ol Varsity experience behind them, they will be the team to watch in the 1979 season. The Junior Varsity team also had a suc- cessful season ending with a 6 - 3 confer- ence record. ln their first year of high school competi- tion, the B-squad team came up with a 1 - 8 record. However, the team gained valuable experience, and they are looking forward to next season.

Back Row: Jim Presnail, Scott Lohr, Jim Anderson, Mark Commers, Rick Geiger, Simon Haeg. , . f I, 'il . x This year's boys and girls cross country team compet- ed in a ten meets schedule against North Suburban, Lake, and City conferences, along with independent schools. The team consisted of 24 members. This year Hites sur- prised everyone with a complete girls team. They demon- strated the true Hylander spirit, when under the guidance of their captain, Diane Revering, they placed fifth in Re- gional competition. This is just a start. Prospects for the girls' team look promising with the appearance of more and more runners. The 1978 boys cross country season became a building block for the coming season. Captain Scott Lohr paved the way for future season by guiding underclassmen Simon Haeg, Tim Olson, Kurt Schlagel, and Mike Wolf to sixth place in the conference.
