The Columbia Heights Work Program began in 1953 and since then it has expanded and become a major asset to the high school's curriculum. The Work Program is divided into six major organizations, including D.E.C.A., O.E.A., V.l.C.A., H.E.A.R.T., and two Work Ex- perience Programs. Each individual work program is beneficial to each participant in helping them to develop their own personality and character. The pro- grams offer the students an opportunity to en- gage in a realistic atmosphere of their own interest of employment. These interests may vary from secretarial work, typists and recep- tionists to chefs and food technicians. Using their classroom knowledge also, stu- dents have the opportunity to combine what they have learned here at Heights to a related on-the-job-experience. I
