HiteSwingers Swing To Success 'J -qyigpfr I First Row- Teri Elberg, Amy Rockwell, Catherine Braun, Julie Pfaff, Michelle Swarmer, Sue Buttweiler. Second Row- Sean Cline, Rich Gartmann, Mark Trease, Bill Hill, Mike Biesemeier, Rick Kollar This year, the Swing Choir has chosen the name Hite- Swingers to represent them. The HiteSwingers consist of six guys and seven gals Cone of which is the accompan- iestj, who work hard at learning songs and dances to perform at various community functions. Practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m., however, many evening practices were held close to per- formance dates. The first public performance given by the HiteSwingers was at the Columbia Heights Public Library's 50th anni- versary celebration on December 3rd. Another perforV eesx mance was given at the library on December 13th for a ff W Q Senior Citizen's Christmas program. ' The Christmas season was an especially active time for the HiteSwingers. Besides the program at the library, the group made various appearances at other Senior Citi- g zen's functions. An invitation to perform at the Leon's - Supper Club for the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Luncheon on December 20th was also accepted and was well received. Adding to the busy year was a performance for the Lion's Club on February 5th, an invitational presentation at the Columbia Heights town meeting on March 3rd, and participation in the Swing Choir contest on March 27th. To wrap up the active and exciting year, the members held their own concert at the school on March 12th and were featured in the Pops Concert on May lst. LQ X am- Choir members work hard on their music. This year our choir had an extremely busy sea- son. During the annual Christmas concerts all the choirs and bands worked together harmoniously to create an outstanding array of music and voices. Concert choir also tried something differ- ent this yearg they did some of their selections for their Christmas Concert in four different lan- guages. The choir contest festivals were held at Osseo Senior High School on April 19th and May lst. The solo ensemble contest was held on March 27th at Minneapolis Roosevelt. Another special event held during the school year was the choir exchange program. This took place in the spring of the year. This gives the choirs a chance ot display their individual talents. The spring Pop concert was also a big event this year, featuring another chance to display their talents.
