Funny Girl , this year's fall musical, dazzled it's audience with a touch of comedy and dance. Ninety-two students participated in the making of this successful play. Funny Girl contained seven different set designs, the most Columbia Heights has ever used. The sets were constructed by the hard-working stage crew and art classes. Leading actress Kelly Bartlett appeared in all twenty-three scenes of Funny Girl , frequently accompanied by members of the high school band. As in the past, the play cast and crew presented two matinees on November 14 and 15 for the students. Evening performances were also given on Novem- ber 16, 17, and 18. Two teachers from outside our school direct- ed the play. Many thanks go to Mrs. Jerine Spindler, Mrs. Randa Stanius, and student director, Jenny Hadtrath, for all the help they gave us to make our play a success.

QS This year, in preparation for our Thanksgiving can drive, the students put forth a lot of hard work and energy by collecting about 5400 cans. Our Thanks- giving assembly was held on Wednesday, November 22, with representatives from SACA and Eden House. They congratulat- ed us and gave thanks to our student body for the effort they put into the can drive. Everyone left with a feeling of worth and appreciation, after laughing at them- selves and past generations with Mark Scharonbroich, our guest speaker. He told of what might be called the true meaning of Thanksgiving. lt's not impor- tant what's on the table, but who's there and how important and valuable these people are.
