Spielman J. Swisher A poster from Foreign Language Week. Three foreign languages are taught here at Columbia Heights Senior High School: French, Spanish, and Ger- man. Of course, the English language is also taught here, however, it still remains quite foreign to many of us. Many students are involved in the Foreign Language program, and this year they put their languages together to come up with a Foreign Language Week. The week of Nov. 27th - Dec. 1st, was devoted to the study of foreign countries, their customs and language. Throughout the week, the students viewed many foreign films and used their knowledge of other languages to play tri-lingual Bingo. A midweek hayride provided much enjoyment to all, along with the selling ofcandy from other countries. On November 29th, the Foreign Language Club spon- sored a dinner. Much cooking was done in the classrooms in preparation for the dinner. To conclude the action-filled week twenty Foreign Ex- change students from surrounding schools visited Col. Hts. Sr. High and were our proud guests at that evenings basketball game. Afterwards, they and many others at- tended the Foreign Language Dance. This was the first official Foreign Language Week to be held at Col. Hts. Sr. High. It proved to be a great success among all.

However, many plans are in the making for curriculum changes in the near future. The social studies department has added two new teachers to their staff this year. Wel- come, Ms. Jessen and Mr. Froiland! Not pictured: J. Gause, H Mushel, E. Vukelich
