mf.. Despite Hylander tacklers outnumbering and overpowering him, Knight ball carrier man- ages to hold on to the ball while being dragged to the ground, retaining lrondale possession Hglanders Falter in Earlg Season Plag. but Gain Confidence at Mounds View Although the football team had been predicted to finish high in the new North Suburban A Conference, the season ended with a disappointing 2-4 record, 3-5 overall. Coach Raveling felt that many of the team's problems could be traced to the first game against Stillwater. We made a lot of mistakes and lost, he stated. This seemed to get us off on the wrong foot. Because of fumbles and miscalcula- tions, the Hylanders remained scoreless throughout the first three games. Thus, they were defeated consecutively by Stillwater, Kellogg, and Ramsey. The team began to make progress when they led Mounds View for the first three quarters of the game. However, the final three minutes brought defeat by a score of T4-17. Heights' first victory, 7-O over lron- dale, was followed by a comeback win over South St. Paul, 20-6. Quarterback Dan Thul contributed to the victory with his completion of l2 passes for T86 yards. Clements and Jeska achieved rec- ognition by being named to the all con- ference team. According to the coaches, next year's football season promises to be a good one with the returning lettermen and with this year's successful sophomore team. Heights ball carrier struggles to maintain his momentum as lrondale men attack him.
