They opened the season at the parade stadium against a strong De La Salle team. De La Salle won by a scare of 35 to 2. The second game of the season brought the only victory to the Hylandors fold. The game was against Hastings with the Herghters winning 7 to 6. ln the third game the Stillwater Ponies edged the Hylanders 6 to 2. Robbinsdale won the neighborhood championship back tn the next game by a score of 28 to O. ln the following game, the Hylanders received defeat by a scare of l8 to 7 from the Anoka Tornadoes. The next was the homecoming game against North St. Paul which was lost T9 ta 7. The South St. Paul Packers defeated the Hetghters Q0 to O in their sixth game of the season. The last game of the year was a hard fought battle against White Bear which the local boys lost by a scare of 7 to O. Some of the boys who will be remembered for their fine play are Ronnie Cadwell, left half, Clark Sahlstrom, cenf ter, Ran Waldemar, right half, Jerry Knox, quar- terback, Ray Rau, tackle, Roger Paulson, end, Mike Hogan, guard, Lloyd Back, tackle, Wally Logacz, fullback, Harold Eckrnan, end, Lee Stanberry, left half, Randy Amlin, left half, Ronnie Lyden, guard, and Dwayne Dibley, cen- ter. l-leighters, Sahlstrom, Hagan, and Rau, were named on the all-conference team. 1a R Amlm Coach Don Snoose Johnson R Weldon MQ'

Stanberry ASKETB LL Coach Don Swede Carlson's Hylanders wound up the season with eleven wins and ten loses To his four returning lettermen, Ron Cadwell, Art Frbiger, Ron VValdemar, and Bob Larson, Coach Carlson added six products of last year's B-Squad, .lim Fowler, Loren Wolle, Clyde Payne, Gilbert Savstrom, Ed Dropps, and Dwayne Dib- ley From last year's Junior High team, Myron Pozmark, was brought up. Filling out the team was Roger Paulson ln the beginning the l-lylanders couldnt find the basket and consequently lost the first five out of six games ln the next six, the boys broke even with three wins and three losses. They then began to show their stuft by winning the five remaining games to end the regular season with nine wins and eight losses The Hylanders toolc undisputed fourth place rn the Suburban Con- ference. They defeated White Bear but lost to Wolle Manager Hastings in the Sub-District Tourney. ln the first game of District l4 play, the boys squeezed out a 59 to 57 victory over North St. Paul. They then lost to a very hot shooting Sa St. Paul club. The l-lylanders showed some exceptionally good ball handling in the latter half of the season, which with the will and determination to wrn, played an important part in their victories.
