The class of 1967 of Coltunbia Grammar School has had the privi- lege of being taught by many hard- working and concerned instructors. There is, however, more to teach- ing than conveying book knowl- edge in a classroomg and the sen- ior class has learned more from these two men than subject matter. In class and out, these men have treat- ed us like adults-their equals. We discovered quickly, however, that we were neither.We grasped for knowl- edge on all levels, and they eager- ly answered all our questions from skiing to family counseling. The place of learning was unimportant- classroom, library, cafeteria, park- They spoke after great thought and were frank in their discourse. They shocked us from our naive thinking and guided us toward sensibility and awareness. The more we learned from them, the more appreciative we became of their quality and uniqueness. The sense of humor to ask for Aristotle's rules of comedy, the strength of con- viction to cancel a term paper, the courage to admit error and the quest for knowledge are only a few ex- amples of their superior character- istics. These men gave unstintingly of themselves. To acknowledge our appreciation, the Class of 1967 of Columbia Grammar School dedi- Cates the Columbiana 1967 to Mr. Robert C. Parker and Mr. Perry A. TO THE GRADUATING CLASS The editors of Colzzmbiafza 1967 have 'chosen the seasons for the theme of this, your yearbook. The seasons - like our lives -- pre- sent a never-ending evolution, a panorama of birth, growth, and beauty. The richness of your lives will de- pend on how fully you explore, planting as you go, the seeds of old and new ideas in the fertile soil of your minds during the spring and summer of your lives. The concepts developed and the experiences sa- vored during youth will determine how rewarding will be your autumn and winter. If you are always Curious and in- volved in the World about you, your todays and tomorrows will nev- er lack the excitement of challenge and personal satisfaction. Nothing that is strong and lasting can devel- op in barren soil. If you grow stur- dy, deep roots now and accept the responsibility for yourselves and oth- ers, then your lives will have mean- ing and importance in your own eyes and in the eyes of others. Weigh the alternatives offered you and discard the petty for the meaningful, the dogma for the ques- tioning, the ugly for the beautiful and the selfish for the altruistic. Grow straight and tall and inde- pendent in mind and spirit, and the confidence and trust in you your- selves will enrich all the seasons of your lives.
