fl , ff. CO IL! Illblvdll QG,iB'ExXKs'NKS'5 Sophomore Class History The fourteenth day of September, 1926-Oh, what a day it was! We shall never forget that day for it was then that we ventured off from home for our first year in college. How green and inexperienced we were. Words cannot describe the feelings within each of us as we said good-bye to the loved ones back at home. But we soon met others, in our same predicament and out of our mutual trials many lasting friendships sprang. Ever ready to help us were the old girls especially our Junior sisters. They soon instilled in us the college spirit and set us straight for our work. In the latter part of October came the Fair with all its excitement. We felt very, very important, two freshmen being allowed to go alone on the grounds. Thanks- giving came with its autumnal feast. By this time we were eagerly looking forward to the Christmas holidays. There hung on every freshman's wall a calendar where each day as it passed was checked off. Before we could realize it these happy days were gone but we then began counting the time until the Spring vacation. Let us not omit the incident of our 'Treshman Feast . Of all college pleasures perhaps none is more thoroughly enjoyed than this. For one night we all became happy little 'ckiddiesn again. We enjoyed our childhood sports once more. With all these events to lighten our burdens, we soon reached our f1rst milestone. Our freshman year was over and we were bginning to take on a changed appearance. As we gathered back in the fall of 72.7 how different we were. We were no longer homesick and lonesome. What rejoicing there was to meet our school pals again after several months of separation. On every side we felt friendly handclasps and greetings. We were capable of returning these greetings with equally great joy. At first we felt very wise and important when some unfortunate new girl would mistake us for Juniors or Seniors. We continued to flatter ourselves as to our wisdom until we plunged into the real Sophomore work. Gradually we began to see that We had only been 'awise fools after the tests and temptations of this year. The outstanding feature of the year was the Sophomore-Senior-Our last op- portunity of honoring our Sister Class which was about to leave us. Now as we reach the close of our Sophomore year, let us comfort ourselves that though our sisters are leaving us they have set for us high standards and may we in our future years live up to their ideals.
