' It is yet a mystery how Bird was ever lassoed on the wild plains of Oklahoma. She came east with her eyes sparkling in the chase. No wonder she stars in astronomy, as she has had such opportunities to view the celes- tial. sphere, with no sub-ways and skyscrapers to intervene.
