HE Erosophian Literary Society was organized in ' 1907. the first year of our school. It is the oldest society in school. During the seven years of its life it has enjoyed success anal prosperity, and it continues to-wlay to be one of the active eclucative features of our school. From this society have gone forth men who are making reputations as ministers, teachers and business men. f 44 I Qur purpose is to facilitate our efforts to acquire lqnowleclge, to stimulate ancl encourage an honorable emulation in the discharge of our college duties. to promote depth and correctness of thought. to develop the unclerstantling, to cultivate the reasoning faculties and to bring into exercise the higher and better powers Of the mind.

Since its organization the chief object of the society has been to induce the girls to cultivate a greater literary interest. There is much interest taken in rendering the programs. Aside from the literary work, we have been doing much for the College. The Montaguians are always ready and willing to do their part in any work con- cerning the College. i461 XYe feel that we owe much to Dr. Montague. our beloved l resident, in honor of whom we named our society. XVith the name Klontagnian we feel that much is expected of us. Our motto. lmmer voran, is also the motto of our every-day life. In work or play, we don't care, The Montagnians are always there.
