We continued The King Swing as a sophomore dance sponsored a bake sale and furnished flowers for Baccalaureate to round out our sophomore year. These first two years passed so quickly that we were juniors before we realized it. The Loveliest Nightof the Year was the theme of the Reception we presented to the seniors in our junior year. We contributed our earnings from our Junior Variety Show, dances, and magazine sales towards this project. We were all slightly nervous in our suits and formals while eating dinner that eve- ning, but this was soon left behind as we continued through The boveliest Night of the Year. Twelve seniors joined us this year from washington Center who quickly became acquainted with C.C.H.S. and were soon part of the gang. We all wore our Sunday best to the Christmas Dance we sponsored, named Rudo1ph's Rendezvous. We provided dates for those who had none through our Date Bureau which we initiated into C.C.H.S. Our class play was presented and the completion of our high school projects drew near. Graduation suddenly becamea reality and before we knew it, we were being handed our diplomas. ,Hi 1 YN Tiv- 47 A ANIHHN 'X HHN XXINRQ V-.'Nl'T BU llTOllU 'iiins 'xlarclimg Band 1 3 4 Comgrr S nslme 1 3 Band l S etarx 1 is aan 1 S ms r liixnrsxfied Wixersifie 4 C C H S welcomed Usm19S2 'WN i 4'-OV -.Af if 2U,YN Slllf ' f ' f ?Y l' Bl.f f' f QRY K l3l2l'NN.- ,' fflioir ,'2,fg Sllrisiine 1,L',3,4g D, B.A..-X. 43 junior Variery Show 3. The class was considerably larger this year than last, due to students from Washington Center School joining them. Under the guidance of Mr. King and Mrs. Murphy, they sponsored the King Swing , the annual sophomore dance. They also provided flowers for Baccalaureate and Commencement exercises. The class was led by John Whiteleather, President. Tom Fisher assisted John as Vice-President. Carolyn Hatfield wrote minutes, while Becky Erne handled money matters. The class elected Joyce Fisher to become a member of Booster Club. The sophs were in most of the extra-curricular activities of Columbia City High School. Some of these were Choir, Booster Club, F.F.A., Spanish Club, F.H.A., N.F.L.. G.A.A., and the Sunshine Society. They began work this year in preparation for their ultimate goal, the Junior-Senior Reception. Freshman day, November 18, officially opened the door to the humble Greenies , and found the worthy Sen- iors waiting with sinister smiles, Each of the innocent newcomers was assigned a Senior for his master. Shoes were shined, candy was dis- tributed, and book-carrying service was offered. Hedda Hopper would have been astounded to see the fantastic creations in millinery---ev- erything from a dainty flower, to a high stovepipe. In the afternoon, a convocation was held and the class talent was displayed. The soph- omore class president, John Whiteleather, placed the green beanie on the head of John Lillicli, Freshman class president, welcoming the Frosh to our midst.
