The Canteen has made a pleasant spot for teen-tigers to play, and at the sarne time has proved their ability to make and abide hy their own laws. AND BETTER C One of the solutions to teen-age accidents is driver training classes in high schools. TIZENS Under Miss Carver's supervision, the Vocational Information class prepared a petition asking permis- sion to replant trees on the Court House lawn. It was presented to Commissioners John Groves, Lee Plattner and Samuel Frembly by representatives from the class. For the first time in several years the sen- ior class sponsored Freshman Day in C. C, H, S, Unfortunately upper classmen Rolland Gipson, Chet Simon, Charlie Gibson, Tony Lefkowicz, and Cliff Balyeat forgot to shine their shoes the night before, so they have formed an assembly line, and freshmen Max Goldwood, Russell Erne, Eugene Brown and Roger Bridge are quic kly getting the job done before the bell rings. Mrs. Lois Murphy and Barbara Carver are filling a sack for room 4, a freshman homeroom, which collected the most clothing. vu. , f lv-Nl I L l CLUBS AND CLASSES I mi. The finals for the McLallen speech con- test were held in December. Second place went to senior Marjorie Gillespie. Martha Chapman placed first, and Mr. Gandy is presenting her a check for her outstanding oration.
