'Vhe Columbia City TUCll'C8ll' teen was organized and its consti- tution written by high school stu- tlents last year with the help of an .tdult cotrtmittee. With Cliff Bal- yeat Qcenterj as president, and Mrs. Jones fleltj and Mrs. Travel- bee Qrightj as hostesses it has con- tinued to operate successfully. The Canteen has made a pleasant spot for teen-tigers to play, and at the sarne time has proved their ability to make and abide hy their own laws. AND BETTER C One of the solutions to teen-age accidents is driver training classes in high schools. Mr. Johnson and Miss Stansburgteachstudents safety and courtesy as well ashow to oper- ate a car in these classes. Mr. Johnson, Tony L e fko w ic L, Jack Washburn and Steve Pence are a- bout to leavein the dualcontrolled car donated by the Gene Reeg Motor Sales. TIZENS Under Miss Carver's supervision, the Vocational Information class prepared a petition asking permis- sion to replant trees on the Court House lawn. It was presented to Commissioners John Groves, Lee Plattner and Samuel Frembly by representatives from the class. The project gave students practice in meeting county officials and showed their interest in the com- munity. -l L 'X uf- 'I-I For the first time in several years the sen- ior class sponsored Freshman Day in C. C, H, S, Unfortunately upper classmen Rolland Gipson, Chet Simon, Charlie Gibson, Tony Lefkowicz, and Cliff Balyeat forgot to shine their shoes the night before, so they have formed an assembly line, and freshmen Max Goldwood, Russell Erne, Eugene Brown and Roger Bridge are quic kly getting the job done before the bell rings.
