unior l-listory Again another year has passed, as all years must pass, and we find that these once green', freshman have become jolly,' juniors. Miss Rosemary Bergman took the position, along with Mr. Welty, as class sponsor. Class officers were Jack Stalf, Don Lloyd, Helen Fries, and Beverly Pence in the role of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, respectively. During the year the class sponsored a dance, variety show and, after much preparation, the Junior and Senior Reception. Seated: Miss Thornburgh, Dick Phend, Mr. Shull. Standing: Betty Shroycr, De- Wayne Anderson, Marceil Mc- Elroy. Freshman History In the year l948, one hundred three confused newcomers invaded the freshman rooms at Columbia City High School. Two more students enrolled during the school year to be called freshies and t'greenies by the upper classm en. This life was a new experience for these freshmen, but they soon became accustomed to it. Miss Blackwood and Mr. Kilby, the class sponsors, led these freshmen through the school year. Dick Rondeau was elected president, Dick Morsches assisted him as vice-president, Martha Luckenbill called the roll, while Rheta Rumsyre accounted for the class debits and credits. Various clubs and activities were joined by the freshmen. Many chose Eagle Staff, De- bate, Booster Club, and SSS to round out their schedules. Others were interested in BHSAA, basketball, football, and GAA. The freshman class sponsored a basketball game between the varsity and the faculty and a dance after the Warsaw basketball game. The first year in high school has been completed by these freshmen. May the future bring many happy memories of school life to these citizens of tomorrow. 24
