STUDENT ASSOCIATION Our goals this year as student leaders were three-fold. First, we wanted to encourage students to become involved in their student government by taking part in planning school and social activities. Second, we wanted to create a spiritual atmosphere on campus that would be conducive to spiritual growth and edification. Third, we wanted to emphasize the importance of being prepared to face our world in a mature manner with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Underlying our three goals was the constant prayer for a spiritual awakening in our hearts as a student body. We trusted the Lord to help us meet our goals and answer our prayer as we give Him all of the glory and praise. Student Association was responsible for The Grits Bowl, Men and Women ' s Open House, Blood Drives, spiritual life films, The Concern, starting Student Preacher ' s Fellowship, other school governments, socials, and activities, and Sing-Outs. THE S. A. CONCERN The Student Association was involved in reaching out to the black community of Columbia and other ethnic groups this year through the S. A. Concern. The Concern is a student scholarship fund which began last year as a project to raise money to help local area blacks receive biblical train- ing at C.B.C. We, the Student Association, believe that by giving more opportunities to black leaders for quality training, they will return to their local communities to impact the city with the Gospel of )esus Christ. This year the Student Association voted to set a goal of $15,000.00 for the scholarship fund. By mid-year, $6,500.00 was raised, and we were able to help several students with their financial burdens. The Student Association praises the Lord for what He has done and for what He is going to do in the future with the Concern.
