STUDENT ASSOCIATION We believe this year, more than any previous year, that the Student Associ- ation could be characterized by no other term than transition . The Student Association has been groping in recent years for its own identity. We believe that the Student Association is more than a social organization. It has been our task to build upon foundations already in place, and to build in an imagi- native and corrective fashion. We saw a need to integrate the social and the spiritual aspects of student life, and have tried to do so in our activities. We wanted to encourage co-ed interaction in a non-threatening environment. We believe we have accomplished that to some extent. We also desired to involve the students in the local community. We believe The Concern has served that purpose. God has been faithful and has certainly done exceeding abundantly beyond all that we could have asked. Christopher Doyle, President Dean Reule, Vice President Betty Jordon, Secretary Ralph Jones, Treasurer George Terry, Senior Class President Andy Kamphausen, Junior Class President Mark Moore, Sophomore Class President John Beebe, Freshmen Class President Johnny Connelly, Men ' s Dorm President Gail Berry, Women ' s Dorm President Dr. Donald Trouten, Advisor THE STUDENT ASSOCIATION For C.B.C. we stand, as a memori- al to what it offers and to what we receive. We have gathered from every wind to place ourselves among the pillars of the passing line of supporting structure. We are all a part of it, and yet are each a whole, having an individual place in the school sys- tem and activity. As an Associ- ation, we are the fact of C. B. C.

The Student Association was impressed with a vi- sion to reach out to the lo- cal community of Colum- bia. Seeing Columbia as our own Jerusalem (Acts 1:8), we wanted to do something of spiritual and eternal significance. It has come to our attention that many local blacks who have been called by God into full-time Christian min- istry do not have sufficient funds to attend training centers such as C.B.C. The desire for Biblical training exists but there is an acute financial need. The Concern has materialized to help meet that need. We, the Student Associ- ation, believe that by giv- ing more opportunities to black leaders for quality training these leaders will, in turn, return to their lo- cal communities to impact the city with the Gospel. The Concern is a scholar- ship fund that will be used specifically for Columbia area individuals who qualify both spiritually and academically and who de- sire to be trained at Co- lumbia Bible College. msjimm
