An overwhelming gratitude for his salvation sent Bill Leavel down several paths of searching for a real way to serve his Lord and Savior. For even the Son of Man did not conne to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. ' ' (Mark 1 0:45) Born into a loving Christian family, he made a decision for Christ as a young child. As often happens, his teen years were not given to nurturing his faith. His outward actions, but not his heart, were diverted for a time. At the Billy Graham crusade in 1954, he came to a reali- zation that his life was not what he would like it to be. Mak- ing a full commitment to Christ, he prayed earnestly for God ' s direction. A number of years passed before he was asked to come to CBC. On his first visit to CBC he called his wife saying, Catherine, I can ' t wait for you to see this place! You ' re going to love it! Feeling inadequate, but secure in the Lord, he came to work at CBC in April, 1966. He and his family immediately fell in love with the students, and a lot of hard work was on the agenda! Having been associated with food products most of his working years, his training with Miss Dowdle, the retiring Food Services Director, was a real pleasure. One of his greatest desires for the students, has been to make the transition from home to college as de -institu- CONGRATULATIONS! Williann F. Leavel is one of the nriost important people on this campus, and yet, one of the least recognized. Dedicated to the Lord, the CBC family, and his work, he pours himself into everything he does. He bends over backwards to please the students, create a home-like atmosphere, and to provide special events to help pro- vide variety, the Spice of Life. In recognition of these facts, the 1980 Finial Staff would like to, in turn, dedicate this year ' s book to Bill Leavel as a small token of the student ' s appreciation for him and the many hours he spends in being God ' s servant to us. Truly, without this man, there would be a very empty feeling on this campus. tionalized as possible. A feeling of coming into one ' s own dining room is a reality he hopes every student will have. Being a fun loving person himself, he longs for a comforta- ble, peaceful atmosphere to prevail. Better a dry morsel and quietness with it, than a house full of feasting with strife. (Proverbs 17:1) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1 :1 6) It is his desire for all whom he serves to know his Lord! So caught up in God ' s love for him, he eats, breathes and sleeps, his love and con- cern for CBC students. In spite of any hardships that come his way, be it his real family or his adopted one, he remains steadfast in his faith acclaiming Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, yes and for- ever. This is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. This is an underlying thread that runs through every aspect of Mr. Leavel ' s life. He has a gen- uine love and concern for his employees. We love, because He first loved us, sums it up spiritually, but his Head Cook summed it up humanly when she said, You ain ' t gonna find no better boss-man!

Reflecting His Glory . . . IN TRUTH John ' s gospel tells us that truth is a characteristic of Christ: I am the way, the truth, and the life ... Therefore, truth should also be demonstrated as a characteristic of our lives. In John ' s first letter he says, Let us not love wrtth word or with tongue, but in deed and in truth. Paul adds that in whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father. How then do we reflect His glory? — In Word, In Deed, and In Truth. And though we be tested by fire as silver, we can be confident that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philipplans i .. Confere.
