Supple T o P According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. Philippians 1:20 Our 1962 FINIAL is dedicated to one, beloved by all of us, who has known the need of missions and has labored long at the battle front. It is to you, George W. Supplee, that we give this honor. In 1921, on your honeymoon, you and your wife sailed for India as missionaries under the American Baptist Foreign Missionary Association. You founded Christian schools, compiled a hymn book, took evangelistic tours into sur- rounding areas, and translated the New Testament into the Angami-Naga language. When the Indian government underwent political changes in 1949, you were falsely accused of inciting rebellion amongst the Nagas. Six weeks to leave the country were granted to you. You left even sooner when a plot to kidnap you was exposed. In 1951, you came to CBC. With the exception of the year spent in the capacity of assistant principal at Ben Lip- pen School, you have taught here. Whether you are teaching us in classes, talking with us at the mail boxes, or leading us in a chorus medley in Chapel, we know that you have a concern for each one of us which goes far beyond the area of our school life. To each one here at CBC, you are our Pop . ' Say, ' Pop 1 , who gets your rosebud today? d5oard of Jrudteed MR. PAUL R. ALDERMAN, JR. Sumter, South Carolina MR. F. C. B. C. reflected and preserved in its pages. Actually, it is the heart-beat of the Bible, the risen life of the indwelling Lord surging out to the ends of the earth, which you have re- alized during your days as students at C. B.C. It is missions; the inevitable out- reach of the indwelt life. We need to be reminded, again and a- gain, of the things that are of greatest importance. We will need to be reminded that missions are not to have a place in our lives, but our whole lives are to have a place in missions. We will need to be reminded that, in the words of A. J. Gor- don, We do not stand in the world bear- ing witness to Christ, but we stand in Christ bearing witness to the world. Whenever you read the FINIAL may you ever be found abiding in God ' s missionary purpose . President G. Allen Fleece jracult y DR. G. ALLEN FLEECE REV. JAMES M. On that sandy stretch of land Stand the buildings that God gave, And gently round its boundaries The pine trees watch and wave. There ' s a calm, sweet restfulness Settled o ' er this hallowed place. I seem to see the light of Christ Aglow in every face. Oh, no, they do not sit all day And quietly meditate. They rush about from class to class At a very rapid rate. I see them on the sport ' s field And in chapel hear them sing, And oft they leave the campus On service for their King.
