Farewell The Lord shall be thy confidence. It is with confidence placed in our all-powerful Lord that this Class of ' 39 embarks from Columbia Bible College to be strong and do ex- ploits. Four years of preparation here at school have opened our eyes to one essential: that we must now, if never before, lift anchor and as individuals move under His Power. As we leave our Alma Mater we recall many things for which we may give thanks. Chief among these is an experience of the purpose expressed in the school motto, To Know Him and to Make Him Known. We have seen a vision of The Seven Hundred Million who have never rightly heard the Gospel. And how shall they hear unless we first hear the command to go and exercise the privilege of carrying it out? As we go, He goes before, and it is of His grace that we have our confidence in Him. To us as members of the Bible College family, farewell means at most only a temporary separation, and not that in spirit. We shall always be united in our prayers. We go forward knowing our great responsibility in remembering one another before the Throne of Grace. We are confident that we too shall be so remembered, and together we place our confidence in the Lord. The Class of ' 39 SENIOR CLASS POEM Lord, make us soldiers — give us Fortitude. For us the fight allows no interlude. For us are weapons, armor, life, renewed. O Lord our Confidence now make us strong; O Lord our Confidence give us a song — A song the whole world hears Before the Sun appears. Lord make us soldiers — as the foe is met. For us thru flame and flood the march is set. For us the journey holds no stark regret. The Lord our Confidence will make us strong; The Lord our Confidence will give His song, Before the battle clears, Until the Sun appears. Lord make us soldiers — shunning not the Hard. For us are wounds — we shall not win unscarred. For us no Death can leave our spirits marred. The Lord our Confidence doth make us strong; The Lord our Confidence doth give the song, Unmuffled by our fears Until the Sun appears. Lord make us soldiers — as the crisis grows For us the Captain ' s final signal blows. For us is Dawn — the Eastern heaven glows! The Lord our Confidence has made us strong; The Lord our Confidence fulfilled the song, E ' en while the Morning nears, And as the Sun appears. — Sanna M. Barlow 17 ♦ TO-MAKE- HIM KNOW T 9
