FRONT ROW: Tilbert Neal, Gary Bates, Stan McCunne, Tony Burke, Marv Marshbanks, Jim Medford, Bob Laird, Daryl Johns, Larry Brown. Only five lettermen are on hand from C. B. C. 's fine 1957 team, which won 20 games. The lettermen include Tilbert Neal, ace pitcher of last year's squadg Jim Lewis, Pasco, free swinging first baseman, Paul Knight, Colfax, relief pitcher, Gary Bates, Kennewick, regular 1957 left fielderg and Jim Bobo, big left handed pitcher. Tom Morgan, Kennewick, first baseman is in school but plans to pass up baseball and work this spring. The Hawks started the season with two 1-0 wins over the Washington State Cougars behind the brilliant pitching of Ray Washburn, Til Neal and Jim Bo- bo. These two victories were followed up with a 9-3 decision over the Walla Walla Penitentiary. 77

SECOND ROW: Coach Pennington, Norris Brown, Chuck Heath, Russ Burke, Ken Pickles, Wayne Louk, Richard Hayes, Mgr. This year CBC organized a track team which is being headed by Coach Skip Pennington. So far the team has shown great promise of being a winner. Nick Chalich, one of the team's outstanding men, broke the J. C. State Javelin Throw record in one of the first meets. Two others that show great promise are Gene Bates and Jack Randall. We are sure the boys will do great during the rest of the season and wish them the best of luck. 78 LT
