We will soon be leaving for home as school starts in two more weeks. Now, as to your questions as to the progress of the music department of Columbia Academy. the past year. I am sure Esther. the young student of whom you spoke. would enjoy her work here and also would be a help to us in the music department. Mrs. H. Henderson and I taught private lessons in piano, voice. and organ. Our en- rollment for the year was one hundred thirty-five pupils. Our mixed chorus of one hundred forty voices gave a wonderful concert on May 1, varied with numbers by the brass quartet, trumpet trio. male quartets, girls' sextets, and girls' trio. These smaller organizations, just mentioned, gained valuable experience in singing and playing for church services and efforts in nearby towns. Music week was celebrated by musical programs each day during chapel. Our church choir of forty voices added greatly to the Sabbath services. I must not forget to mention the three piano and voice recitals given. These per- 'ormances are definitely 1- part of the students' training and each one is urged to perform when asked. Hoping to see Esther at Columbia soon and that your own work in Trinidad may prosper, I remain MRS. FRANKIE M. REIS. A freeze-out the first week-end of the school year was a novel, as well as an effective way of doing this. We all enjoyed the games and loafing in our day roomy and what a good time we had with our inter-class bas- ketball garnes. The club also exerted considerable in- fluence toward preserving order in the dinner line. The radio which the club bought for use of us boys was to us a source of both pleasure and information. - LELAND QUINN. 32 BUY? UURM AMIEITIA CLUB UFFIEERS lst Semester- l'rf--nln-nt ...
