MR. KELLY SUPERINTENDENT 0F 5E H00L AND ELEMENTARY PRINEIPAL Dear Class of 1984, Your public school experience is drawing to a close following thirteen years of preparation. Keeping in mind the theme of music of this year’s COLTONIAN, I can only hope that you, as the musical instrument, have passed through the many stages in the developmental process, improving your performance at each level, fine tuning the instrument, and becoming more sophisticated as you proceeded. Hopefully you have learned to harmonize with your peers and harmonize with society as you prepare to move into another challenging phase of life. Best wishes to you as you enter a new phase of life. Sincerely, Richard F. Kelly Superintendent Your dime, go ahead.” MR. WHYTE •HIGH SGH00L PRINCIPAL My warmest congratulations go out to the Class of 1984. You have chosen a most appropriate theme for your year- book — where else but in the field of music do we find human emotion expressed, in word and sound, so well. Please let me offer this short lyric by Langston Hughes for you to follow all of your life. Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field C Frozen with snow.
