Text from Pages 1 - 89 of the 1971 volume:

proud to dedicate this yearbook to the faculty. These men and women have given of themselves to better our generation. Through their guidance, advice and instruc- tion, we, the class of 1971, are prepared to face the challenges of today’s society. We can and will improve man’s world because we care. Thank you, faculty, for showing us how to care. We would like to recognize the four members of the Colton- Pierrepont Staff who have retired this year: Hamilton Ferry, Morris McEwen, Ann O'Gorman and John Stone (no photo available). Supervising Principal Michael H. Corbitt It is my sincere hope that your years in this school have endowed you with a sense of direction for your future, a true set of values, and a degree of appreciation of music, art and literature. If, as our writers, scientists and political leaders predict, your heritage is to be a world over-populated, ravaged and almost destroyed by man himself in his greed for wealth and progress, filled with noise and beset by wars, then this is my message to you, the Class of 1971, Keep your eyes and hearts open to the natural beauty around you, for it is almost overwhelming and knows no season. Read that which is worth reading - good books and poetry, magazines and newspapers, that you may store up material for thought and guidance. Cultivate a love for good music, the best tranquilizer for mind and soul. Learn to create with your hands so that you may have something constructive to do in your idle hours and early retirement. No one can deprive you of the beauty, love and culture that you have within yourself. As Robert Louis Stevenson once said: The world is so full of a number of things I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings.
