Text from Pages 1 - 89 of the 1970 volume:

FOREWORD We look backward and see the greater part of our lives spent in the 60’s, a decade of tragedy, violence and adventure. Looking forward we see a limitless future - the 70’s promise prosperity. We may meet victory or defeat, but as individuals we will keep our goals set high and face the new opportunities tomorrow may offer us. ADVENTURE ... Table of Contents Dedication---------------------------------4 Administration-----------------------------5 Seniors-----------------------------------13 Classes-----------------------------------23 Elementary--------------------------------29 Activities--------------------------------37 Organizations-----------------------------43 Sports------------------------------------55 Advertisement-----------------------------65 A DEDICATION 1970 The class of 1970 proudly dedicates its yearbook to Mr. Timothy Hennessy. Mr. Hennessy deserves this honor because he has dedicated himself to all of us. He has concerned himself not only with the educational welfare for the students of Colton Pierrepont Central School but also with their fine athletic programs. He has coached a league winning soccer team, of which we are extremely proud. Mr. Hennessy has coached the Junior Varsity Basketball squad and helped with past summer programs for our students. We hope, through our dedication, Mr. Hennessy, to express our sincere appreciation for all you have done. ADMINIS T R A T I O N SUPERVISING PRINCIPAL MICHAEL H. CORBITT You, the class of 1970, have just emerged from the most unusual decade in our history. While we were building castles in the air with the success of our moon explorations, the very foundations of our democracy were crumbling. A small percentage of students, concerned over the increasing complexity of the American way of life, the war in Viet-Nam, the violation of the rights of minority groups, and the so called “Establishment,” in an attempt to reshape society to their liking began to sew the seeds of revolution. These could have been worthy causes, but picked up by the herd they multiplied out of all proportion. Today as graduates you are inheriting a country plagued by riots, strikes, government scandals, immorality, crime and drugs. The decade of the Seventies belongs to each of you. Be an individual. Don’t join the herd. Your children have a right to a good, clean and beautiful America and it is up to you to prevent a small group of radicals from tampering with their heritage. Remember that every right that we have carries along with it certain duties and no good citizen is exempt from doing his share. Henry David Thoreau has written: “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps he hears a different drummer.” Listen to your drummer and be a good citizen. “However mean your life is, meet it and live it.” BOARD OF EDUCATION PRESIDENT: Richard Weegar TRUSTEES: Roy Thomas, Martin Clohosey, Robert Creighton, Allen Thomas.
