After thirteen years of work and pleasure here In this school you have finally reached the first plateau In your life. Whatever mea- sure of success you have attained has been brought about through the cooperation of your teachers, your parents, the taxpayers of your school district, the state and federal governments and finally you yourselves. As John Donne once said, No man is an island, entire of itself . This same cooperation will be necessary all through your life. Your success will depend upon your ability to get along with others, your willingness to do your share, even if called upon to protect your country, to hold public office or to sacrifice personal desires in order to help bear the burdens of the day. I sincerely hope that the training and guidance which you have re- ceived in this school will give you the stamina to carry out with pride your mission in life, whatever it may be.
