GHLS' LEAGUE The annual Mother-Daughter Tea for the Girls' League was the most important event this year. This tea climaxed Girls' League week, May h-8. Each day the members dressed in a decided fashion. The five days consisted of Foreign Day, Career Day, Twin Day, Sports Day, and Dress-up Day, which was Friday, the day of the tes. One of the main projects the group took up during the year was providing toys and canned food for Christians Baskets. A play entitled 'The Christmas G:I.mmie was given to the Jr. High and High School, with a can of food as admission. On November 22, 1952, the organization attended the Girls' League Conference, held this year at Lake Oswego High School. Officers for the year were: President Connie Stuhr Vice Pres. Marlys Stensrud Secretary Darlene Stshlnecker Treasurer Marys-nn Lensch Recorder Juanita Hollis

59 GirI's Athletics with the theme 'Shoot 'em High', the Girls' Athletic Associ- ation put on the annual Basketball Banquet March 27, ho cring both the 'A' and 'B' teams' '52-53 year, of basketball Following a roast turkey dinner, Mistress of Ceremonies, Harlys Stensrud, officially opened the banquet, and Darlene Stabl- neeker presented the welcome speech, followed by a response from Johnny Chelson, team co-captain. A violin solo by Miss Petersen preceded the next speaker, Coach Walker. Next on the program was a speech by one of the cheerleaders, Claudette Baggerly. The girls' sextet sang 'T e Bells of St. Mary'sU and 'Hake Be1ieve', and then the guest speaker, John Lewis, head basketball coach at Willamette University, spoke on basketball. After this program, dancing was held in the auditorium. s Officers for the year were: President Joan Ross Vice Pres.
