THE PRESIDENT Since 1955 when Dr. Louis T. Benezet came to CC as president, the campus has gained nationwide recognition. The multimillion dollar building program introduced just a short time ago by Dr. Benezet is well on its way to becoming a reality. Some of the achievements of Colorado College under Dr. Benezet are the naming of CC as one of the fifty outstanding small colleges in the country by Time magazine, and the invitation by General Electric to participate in the College Bowl and the resulting scholarships by GE. Locally, Dr. Benezet has been elected chairman of the Community Chest, and one of the local radio sta- tions designated a Sunday last fall as Dr. Louis T. Benezet Day.

Dr. Benezet enthusiastically and gratefully accepts a science building from the Olin Foundation late in the spring of I960. The years that you are living in college are full of new emphasis upon the seriousness of learn- ing. College students today are being bom- barded with more books, more scientific de- vices, more highly trained and better paid pro- fessors, more lectures, symposiums, and other intellectual sideshows than ever before. It can- not help but make learning seem more impor- tant. Yet when we have completed the process of infusing college education with greater au- thority, shall we also have produced warm hu- man beings with a desire to live and work to- gether? The College yearbook is one of the elements in a college experience that ought to help you remember the human side of education. For despite all the important lessons, you will recall your professors, fellow-students and the events of your College life either as a sort of statistical background or else as warm, flesh-and-blood memories of four years ' that helped shape your life. I think it is important that we remember our College days in this way. Here then will be your Nugget; take it with you in your many- moves throughout life and let it help you remember. . . . Louis T.
