Approximately S1500 was collected in the Campus Chest Drive through contributions, the auction, and proceeds of the Variety Show. THE ULD MAID AND THB THIEF A tragic-comedy by Menotti, The Old Maid and the Thief, was presented by the opera workshop in March. The cast shown above was directed by Mr. Warner of the music department and the production was staged by Mr. McMil1en of the drama department. LAS VEGAS NIGHT The Independent Students Association pro- vided an evening of gambling, dancing, and dining for the student body at Las Vegas Night. The entire first floor of Slocum was converted into a Gambling Casino. A Floor Show featuring Jeanne Parks, The Bengals, and Wally Caldwell was held in the Night Club section with dancing supplied by Randy Lee and his Combo. Gentlemen Prefer Alpha Phi Pledges, the pledge dance, was held soon after rush - then open houses, an alumnae tea and desserts for the fraternities. As soon as work on the Variety Show was completed, plans for a Christmas formal and an alum Christmas :party engulfed everyone. Here they live -- participating actively in rush and entertaining royally through- out the year. This was also the scene of the traditional Pajama Dance and South Sea Island Dance. , The annual Christmas party was given for the children's ward at St. Josepffs Hospital. During this same week, Betas joined the Gamma Phis for caroling at the local hospitals and institutions. Betas on campus hold two class presidencies, an ASCC office, and participate in intramural sports and other campus activities. Open houses, functions with the fraternities, pledge dances and formals highlighted the social schedule. Christmas time saw the G-Phi actives giving a party for the pledges, the actives and alums and their children for a party, and Christmas caroling with the other sororities. Gamma Phis also helped the Tuberculosis association by stuffing envelopes and distributing them in the Colorado Springs area during their annual drive. Services were also volunteered as babysitters Election Day. Second place for Homecoming floats was captured by the G-Phis with Miss Cleopatra the tigress of the Nile being featured. Initiation week saw a program of inspiration and fun to all the girls. Aside from social life, the G-Phis have also contributed their share to major campus government and activities. One member sits on the Committee on Student Conduct and four are executive officers of AWS. The editor of thee Nugget and the chairman of Parents' Day are both Gamma Phis. In addition, Gamma Phi proudly earned second place in campus scholarship. The Watermelon Bust was Well attended by the entire student body and lots of watermelon was available for all. Socially, the Sigma Chis have had pledge dances, two formals, their annual Harvest Moon dance, and many informal get togethers at the house and in the mountains. Their annual party for underprivilized children with the Thetas was held at Halloween time. The Sigma Chis have been active in campus affairs, the president of ASCC being a Sigma Chi. The first place earned in scholarship first semester was an honor to the chapter. SITEAM The CC Ski team participated in two meets this year: Climax and Winter Park. They placed fourth in both sessions. At Climax, Robertson came in third in the down hill and fourth in the jump. At Winter Park, the Solalom showed in the top ten spots, Robertson first and Hilb tenth. In the other events, including cross country, down hill, and jumping, CC placed. Bill Red Hay smashed the 1950-51 record of Ron Hartwell who boasted 67 points that season with 68 points. 2. Hay also broke the record of Clare Smith, who in the 1954-55 season recorded 38 assists. Hay had 42 assists during the season. 3. Don Wishart, the highest scoring defenseman in the league this year, broke the team record of Jim Starrak set in 1950-51 who had 34 points, by scoring 9 goals and 26 assists for the record of 35 points. 4. The Tigers chalked up 14 consecutive wins this season, breaking the record of 13 made in 1947-48. 5. The Tigers won 17 consecutive home games compared to the 13 of 1947-48. 6. This season the team played three overtime periods, winning all of them. In sev- eral of the past seasons two wins and one loss held the record. 7. In the 1946-47 and in the 1947-48 seasons ten men on the Tiger team scored ten or more points. This year 13 men totaled ten or more. 8. The Tigers forced their oponents to stop 1,132 shots on goal this season, while in last year's play the record was 932. 9. By scoring 198 goals and shooting 1,132 times the Tigers set an all-time record of 1,330 shots on goal. 10. Bob McCusker, Bunt Hubchik, Harry Harasyn, Ike Scott, and Harley Patterson together, scored 14 hat tricks this season, the most in CC hockey history.
