Clare Smith College Hockey bigshots meet in Colorado Springs, March 10, 'I'l, and 12, for the Eighth Annual National Hockey Championships. Teams present were C. C., Michigan U., Harvard, and St. Lawrence. Western teams took control and Michigan placed first after defeating C. C. in the playoff. The 1954-55 Hockey season proved to be very fruitful for Colorado College and the players. The return of eleven lettermen and many promising newcomers made Coach Cheddy Thompson look with cautious optimism at the team's prospects. This optimism, along with fine leadership and great playing, brought much glory to C. C. Our first performance was against the Alumni. We split the two game series and then dove into the rest of the season. We placed first in the Western conference race, outplaying such teams as Michigan, North Dakota, Denver, and Minnesota. We also won the Western North-American Championship by defeating Alberta U. in a two game series at the Broadmoor Ice Palace. In the total of 28 games we played this season, C. C. came out on top in 22 and lost only 6. This outstanding record sent us to the N. C. A. A. Hockey Tournament in which we placed second. I Colorado College Player Clare Smith ....
