Through the years, she has taken the time to calm the fears of sixth graders and build up Seniors. She has watched us grow and has remained as proud of and loyal to us, her adopted children, as she has of her own. Time brings back memories of knowing she prayed for us in faculty prayer meeting each day, of constant clock watching, of the pen around her neck, and of one class even nominating her for president of the United States. Time brings the realization that she has been able to teach three different subjects in one room, in one period, introduce a new and needed course of study, and sponsor a major publication all at once. Time also echoes the shout: “Ready!. . Set!. . .” not just heard at sports events, but ringing in the ears of every student who has passed through her door. She has made it her responsibility to prepare us to be “ready,” to be “set,” not just for class, but for life . . . unafraid and unyielding in our convictions. Time has brought to all of us a desire to be loved, to be mothered, and to be remembered. All these desires and needs will be recorded in our memories of our very own MAMA JARRELL. 5 cattzzzcl Of tfie, SmiCz± 044 -£!zft lUztiLncl, c mifsi We. The seniors and sophomores tied for first place in the contest of the floats. The seniors centered on academics — Study to show thyself approved unto God . . . rightly dividing the word of truth. II Tim. 2:15. The juniors’ float was a top single record of Banners of White and Blue. The sophomores based their float on the spiritual aspect, Whether therefore ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” I Cor. 10:31. The freshmen wanted victory in all sports. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. I Cor. 15:57. BANNERS OF hite and Blue... f|; ■HIM ■zsrsss 1 —4— Tr GO RAMS! The play, written by Donna Chupp and under the direction of Barbara Pennington, was an adaptation from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. There were many humorous moments; however, the climax of the night was when Scrooge, played magnificently by Steve Neill, accepted Christ as Savior. All the hard work by the students was rewarded by a standing ovation at the close. It was a night to be remembered by all! Q abntinz cSfi£c£acu£az The 7th and 8th grades evening of fun was enjoyed by ail who attended. We had fantastic delight, sensational singing, and spectacular fun. Mr. Strevel's command performance was an inspiration to us all. 20 ' dufiLcl'i c3fa[[ of 3 ams. Cupid's Hall of Fame, which took place at Stone Mountain Inn this year, was a great success. The entertain- ment this year was highlighted by some very unusual skits. There were several appearances made by some famous couples, as well as special awards given to such superlatives as the biggest flirt and many others. There was also a fantastic message brought by the speaker, Dwight Reigh ard. Rosalyn and Jimmy Carter 22 Juliet Romeo Scarlet and Rhett 23 ■AnationalZ- HONOR SOCIETY, junior (2fioxu± Bottom row. Mr. Faver is new to CHCS this year, having been in the public school system as a teacher and administrator for many years. His experience is certainly valuable. Mr. Ingle has taught at CHCS for the past five years, but this is his first year heading the High School. We greatly appreciate the fine work these two men are doing. Mr. William H. Eph. 3:19 The word “senior” has come to its loftiest prestige when signs of maturity are evident. Eight OUTSTANDING SENIORS have demonstrated “spiritual” maturity by laying their personalities on the altar of our God. In so doing the God-given qualities of leadership, faithfulness, loyalty, respect, and dependability have been taken from the altar to bless the lives of others. That which has been begun in their lives, we have the assurance, will be perfected until the Day of Jesus Christ. 123 Rev. SCOGGINS SUPER MARKET 153 As we, your editors, stand back and take a long look over our years at CHCS, we find ourselves flooded with memorable encounters from which this book was created. It was here we have encountered failure and suc- cess, bitter disappointment and inexpressable |oy. We have shared the excitement of an •A and the defeat of an “F.” We have worn, with pride, the glimmering stone of our class rings, the letters won in athletic events, and the medals from music festivals. We have honored those who have academically excelled. Our memories move on over a waterfall of other encounters: pep rallies, chapels, ball games, .first dates, homework, report cards, deepening friendships, camping trips, concerts. Homecomings, Junior-Seniors, and Graduations. All these have made up our years here at CHCS and these are the encounters we have tried to picture for you to remember in the future. Vet, there is still one more encounter for which this book was intended and that is our encounter with Jesus Christ, Lord and Saviour of our lives. It was He who enabled us to bear the disappointments and He who brought our |oy and allowed us the privilege to excel. For it is He who gave us life. I We w' 9've no individual staff tributes, for they all gave of themselves for which we are grateful. This Encoun- ter, we commend first to the Person of our greatest encounter, the Father, and then to you our fellow class- rrtSW’sV Joyfully and gratefully.
