Remembered as: A true friend. as www. S.C.A. 9g D.E. Club. CLASS HI TORY The class of 1964 has been an alpha and omega class. Back in September of 1960, when we entered our freshman year, we were anxious and ambitious, proud and perhaps even a little scared of entering the strange new phase of life which we would call high school. We sat in the back of the auditorium longing for the day that we would get the front seats and have the title of Senior. That year, for the first time, an accelerated program of study was offered to our class and everyone was trying to impress the upperclassmen in order to be a success in high school. The boys started in J.V. sports and the girls were trying to get into every club and organization in addition to a boy friend or so. One thing that won't be forgotten is the bomb scare when everyone was moved to the parking lot across the street and then somehow the rumor got started that the school was closed. The rush looked like charge in some military campaign in some history book that everyone dreaded to study. Almost everyone had the same problems: Latin I, Algebra l, and how to lead a booming social life on a freshman's allowance. Finally June came and with it the end of the year, a rather difficult one but also rather uneventful. After a great vacation of sleeping late, going to the beach, and just goofing-off, September again came and we returned to school. We now felt that after a year of experience behind us we were ready to take on the problems with which we might be confronted. We now had the freshmen to look down upon and only two classes to look up to. Some of us had a new factor which fitted into our schedule and that was the use of an automobile, a true 'symbol of high school status. Our sophomore year ended and we looked with great dreams and much enthusiasm to that magical Junior year. That year finally started, and it started with all the promises of a great year. The first project for the class was think- ing up a theme and decorating for the Junior Miss Pageant. For some reason all this work had to be done on a Saturday and Monday which pushed us to a point where we were all about to scream. We finished just in the nick of time and every- thing turned out Well. With the money we started getting everything lined up for our big event of the year, the ring dance. The big night finally came and a dull gym was transformed into a wonderland of blue colors and every boy thought his date was the prettiest there. Upon receiving our rings we knew that we were finally voted as bona fide high school students with all our loyalty to C.H.H.S. With the coming of Spring another big event of the year arrived that we will long remember. That was our Junior Day Production. It was maybe a little unpro-fessional, or even a little corny, but it was indeed a pleasure to perform. The countdown of years was slowly approaching the mark of graduation and we begin our Senior year. The Senior year was certainly one not to be forgotten. There were college boards, sports events, college applications, Senior Day, the Senior trip, and the big dance of the year, the Senior Prom. Now come the events which will close our reign as the Seniors of Colonial Heights High School. The Baccalaureate Sermon with its awesome quiet and the Commencement Exercise will be our last times together as a class. Our class was the-first to be in the Central District, we were the first to have a Key Club and the largest graduating class so far. We will also be the last class to graduate from our present building. When we are gone we hope to be able to look back over happy memories, remember old friends and return to our Alma Mater. We wish all classes, which will follow, a very successful Senior Year and may they have and enjoy all the good times with which we 'were blessed. Truly, we will have these moments to remember. 46
