We spent five memorable years at what is now Flora M. Hill Elementary School. In the sixth grade we became members of the student body of what was then the new Colonial Heights Elemen¬ tary School, which was destined to become our beloved Colonial Heights High School. At that time our principal was Mr. W. W. Reade, and our assistant principal was Mr. M. P. Alley. Now we have the same principal, but we have a new assistant principal, Mr. J. D. Smith. Attending one of these schools was to us a sign of growing-up, and being sixth graders we were very anxious to be considered mature. At the time we did not realize what a wonderful opportunity had been given to us. Since we were the highest class, we were the first in every¬ thing; we have set tne goals and standards for this school. 24
