BADMINTON CLUB The badminton club is sponsored by Mr. Staples and Mr. Sparks. It is divided into two groups: Juniors and Seniors. Members of this club played in the badminton tournament at Cresoent Hai ghts High SchoMcAb 4 ART CLUB The Art Club is sponsored by Mr c Staples. It has helped with the decoration for the school socials. They are also working on a mural. YEARBOOK CLUB The six members of the Yearbook Club work very hard to produce our yearbook, Maroon and Gold. Miss Tench is the teacher- sponsor, but Miss Schawalder and Mr. Bird are in charge of the liter ary seotion. John Crawford and Glenn Cameron are in charge of e art. CAMERA CLUB The C.I, Camera Club was organized by Mr. Stolee to further the interest and knowledge of photo¬ graphy. This Club has about 12 members who work hard to turn out gbod pictures ' of club, school teams, and special events-for the C.I. Yearbook,

CHESS CLUB The Chess Club’s, teacher sponsor is Mr. Ballard. The Members meet every Monday at noon in the Council Room to play chess. The winner, of the com¬ petition was Roy Bolton, David Fleming, Ralph Bell. YOUTH FOR CHRIST CLUB GLEE CLUB The Youth-for-Christ Club is a non-profit organization under the leadership of Mr. Jordan. They meet every Friday at noon in the Music Room. The Y.F.C. has special guests, films and features throughout the year. The Glee Club consists of about fiO members. They . .meet. eve.ry. Wedne sday noon in .the. Mu sic, Room, whe re 1 practise singing. The ' Gle Club often sing in the sc!: auditorium and other place outside the sohool. The teacher sponsors are Mrs. Adderson, Mr. Jordan and Mrs. Orme, LIBRARY CLUB The Library Club has about 40 members and is soonsored by our librarian, Mrs. Smith. Library Club members spend about 2 hour every night .for a week, once every five weeks, in order to keep the library . open after sohool. In addition to this, .members wash and repair the books at the end of the year. ( NEWSPAPER CLUB The Newspaper Club is sponsored by Mr. Bird arid Miss Sphawalder. This c worked very hard to produce four newspapers and the literary section of Yearbook. Wonderful workl

SCIENCE CLUB This club is under the leadership of Mr. Edwards. It has 20 members. Each member has his own project. The Science Club planned trips to such places as the Calgary airfield, an oil refinery and a television station. AUDIO-VISUAL CLUB The Audio-Visual Club was sponsored by Mr 0 Edwards, It is a service club which provides operators for the movie projector, filmstrip projector and the public address system in the auditorium. ri he cheerleaders were under the leadershi p of Miss Clarko They cheered at several games and also at the Track and Field. The twelve cheerleaders are: Fay Wiltse Pat Bowerman Betty Sawchuk Julie Matters Sharon Gregory Terrill Archer Karen Kjellander Evelyn Koch Betty Scobie Valorie Hrdlicka Carol Kricken Darlene Huber SAFETY PATROL The safety patrol is another of Colonel Irvine’s servioe clubs. The club is sponsored by Mr. Koper. The work of this organization is to control the flow of students crossing the street. The members have the privilege of attending a show every month and also a few football and hockey games during the year. This club is very necessary and we should be proud of it.
