Looking beyond the final scores, you will find individual and team statistics and efforts that are deserving of school pride and attention. Examples of these statistics and efforts are as follows. Average rushing yardage was 228.5 yards per game as against the average opponents rushing yardage per game of 156.3 yards. This says much for our offensive team effort. Individual rushing efforts worthy of attention are Jeff Thrams and Mark Millers average carries of 6.83 yards per carry. The offensive team also out averaged their opponents in the areas of punt returns, kick off yardage and punt yardage. The defensive team also had some impressive statistics. They managed to keep three teams. Constantine. The Varsity emerged with a respectable record of seventeen wins and fourteen losses, earning that while facing some of the top ranked teams in all classes. The 1984 season ended with a hard fought loss against number one ranked St. Phillip in the opening round of the District tournament Certainly the key ingredients to our success this season were skilled play, intensity and determination. Those qualities were best exhibited in our veteran seniors Jamie. Deanna, and Sophia. We were also fortunate to have the services of three neophyte seniors from near and far—Kim Ward. Tiina Laiho. and Junko Oda. In addition, seven talented juniors and sophomores rounded out the varsity squad Two juniors inherited the awesome task of leading the defense as solo blockers Both Joey and Maureen honed the defensive abilities while excelling as power attackers. Junior Myrth Sherratt added her defensive talent and Michelle Percival provided excellent setting and front row play. Sophomore Amy Truckey started her varsity career by winning a starting role as a setter— displaying leadership and steady play—both desirable qualities. Elizabeth Bell and Kim Walters added their emerging talents to strengthen the team. Although our performances this season were up and down, we are pleased that each athlete made important gains in improving their individual skills thus strengthening the team. I am proud of our team this year and have only the highest expectations for the future BACK ROW (L to R): J. Percival. K. Walters, A. Truckey, M. McManus, K. Ward, M. Percival. J. Hemel. Growing to learn and learning to grow, while the reason we have been here finally starts to show. We wonder and think about what lies ahead, while life as we know it. soon comes to an end Those who have helped us. pushed us. and taught us now come back in educated thought. It seems, as we think, that it went so fast, yet forever in our minds it will last and last.
