L ”V J The varsity girls posted a very successful season finishing the year with a fine 16-6 record. Colon won the first annual Invitational Tournament held at Colon. In the semifinals, Litchfield defeated Union City, 52-48 and Colon defeated Burr Oak, 47-18. In the consolation game Union City defeated Burr Oak, 49-22. Colon captured the championship game with a 33-25 win over Litchfield. The Magi had a very successful season, showing steady improvement as the year went on. The Magi finished the year winning 12 of their last 14 games before losing to Centreville in the district championship. Several Magi girls recieved post season honors. Kim Richardson and Dawn Wagner were selected to the St. Joe Valley All-Conference First Team and Char King received All-Conference Honorable Mention. Kim Richardson was selected to the UPI All State Second Team, and Dawn Wagner received UPI All-State Honorable Mention. At the awards banquet this winter Kim Richardson and Dawn Wagner were selected as this years Most Valuable Players. Char King recieved the Coach's Award, Dawn Campbell Most Improved Player Award, Teresa Hostetler Defensive Player Award and Julie Pattison the Lyman Decker Award. The Magi will be graduating four seniors this year. Char King a four year letter winner. Dawn Campbell a three year letter winner, Teresa Hostetler a two year letter winner and Kim Richardson a two letter winner. Kim also established the school rebounding record by collecting 627 over a two year period for an average 14.2 per game. 13
