] boys varsity track t It was a building year for Mens Varsity team. The team faced tough competition by more mature teams, but still managed to place 5th at League meet. The majority of the team members were freshmen and sophomores, however the outstanding performances of the senior and juniors cannot be overlooked. Graduating members of the team included, Don Muckle, Barry Meyer, and Lloyd Walton. Dave Bower tied the school record in High Hurdles at 16.2 seconds. Coach Blanchard cited Dave as most valuable player. His ability in the Hurdles and Long Jump helped him to accumulate an overwhelming point total. In the League meet, his individual point total was enough to defeat two other teams. Randy Schrader, a freshman, was given the honor of most improved, having cut over a minute off his two mile time. A special award, entitled true grit , was given to Dale Carr for his effort in track after recovering from a knee injury. All in all it was an exciting year with some terrific memories of good competition. That is what sports are for! LEFT to RIGHT: Coach J. Blanchard, T. Perry, S. Clipfell, D Bower, L Walton, L.
