Homecoming Packed With Emotion Colon High School’s varsity football team was overcome October 6, 1978, Homecoming Night by White Pigeon Chiefs. While the defense shut out White Pigeon in the second half, the Magi offense had difficulty establishing any points on the board throughout the game. The final score was White Pigeon 20, Colon, 0. At halftime, the results of Friday’s voting for Homecoming Senior King and Queen candidates were announced as King, Chuck Frisbie and Queen, Kathleen Shoop. Student Council President, John Dudasko, crowned them during a brief ceremony. Other members of the court included, Senior Teresa Bontrager escorted by Karry Hostetler, Senior Kim Cinklin escorted by Dave Leighton, Junior Cathy Nightingale escorted by Larry Swartz, Sophomore Dawn Campbell escorted by Shane Clipfell, and Freshman Marlys Hooley escorted by David Bower. Throughout Homecoming Week, classes competed with each other in various contests and Dress Up Days sponsored by the cheerleaders. Monday was Crazy Day, Tuesday was Hillbilly Day, Wednesday was “50’s” Day, Thursday was Dress Up Day, and Friday was Red and White Day. Highlighting the class competitions were the Powder Puff football game won by the Junior Class girls, 12-0, and the Pep Assembly, where it was announced that the Juniors had won the overall class competition.
