Chuck it's a hot potato. The 1977-78 Boys' Varsity Basketball team finished up a fine season with twelve wins and seven losses. This was Colon's first winning season in eight years and also enables us to finish up in third place in the leagues. Although we didn’t overpower anybody we played good fundamental basketball. The highlight of our season was probably the trip to Waldron climaxing with an overtime win on a shot at the buzzer by Ralph Merkle. Mark Thornton and Rich Hostetler provided us with good rebounding and fine playmaking while Andy Bailey thrilled us with his long shots and Chuck Frisbie by his fine all around play. Honors went to Chuck Frisbie as he made the All-Conference team while Mark Thornton and Ralph Merkle made honorable mention. Mark Thornton's teammates voted him most valuable while Rich Hostetler won the most improved player and Chuck Frisbie the Coaches Award. 23 I hope it goes in.
