DEDICATION The 1970 Colon High Annual is dedicated to Mr. Alvin Benner and his band. There are many who overlook the band because they feel it isn't imperative to today's educational system. However, this is not true, for to Mr. Benner, music is to be lived and appreciated. Mr Benner has dedicated his entire life to the art of music, and we're glad he did. Think what the world would be like without music. Just a hollow, barren place with no beauty or food for the soul. Mr. Benner has lived for music, and given much to this field. He has directed one of the greatest band of the South, and has known many gratifications of just helping people to bring out the music in themselves. Mr. Benner has given much time and many hours of practice, worry and patience to the C.H.S. band, and unselfishly helped each individual to the best of his ability. He's pulling the band to it's feet and helping us to appreciate how much music can mean to a person, and what dreams it can fulfill. This man IS music, and is helping us to find what wonders it can hold. So, in our appreciation, we dedicate this annual to our Director, Mr. Benner, and his band, which works hard, and is doing a good job of trying to keep this man's dream alive. 7
