There are memories of friends, places and things . • • happy faces . . . work and play. All this made up a part of our lives. The record is written and we are proud. We will forever hold in our hearts fond memories of these wonderful years. DEDICATION To show our appreciation for his willingness to help us in any worthwhile activity; for all the extra hours he has given to make our high school years fruitful; and for his efforts and desire, over many years, to make our school a better place and the students in it better citizens, the journalism class of 1966, proudly and with deep appreciation dedicates the 1966 edition of our year book, the MAGI, to our esteemed principal, Mr. W. H. Judd. PAUL BRANDWYK Bernd (Paul) Willem Brandwyk is our German Exchange student this year. Paul comes from Wilhelmshavne, Germany where he attended Max-Planck School until this year. He is very active in all sports and has his letter in football. Paul is taking government and economics, English, French II, trig and solid geometry, physical education and United States History. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Just six short years ago we, as seventh graders, first entered Colon High School to become the first class to go completely through the new building. Mr. Delling toured us through the jungles of U.S. History in eighth grade while in ninth grade Mr. Glazier taught us the fine art of disecting frogs. As sophomores we were enriched by Mr. Evarts’ jolly jokes and got our revenge on the freshmen. Evening in Paris”, our Prom theme, and Everybody Loves Opal”, our play, will long be remembered as highlighting our Junior year. In our Senior year, with the same class officers, we managed to stay organized. Paul, our German exchange student helped keep things lively. And of course, Mr. Flowers’ government test will never be forgotten. We had many projects, our senior play, and most awaited for our senior trip! NOW WF RF. REALLY ON OUR WAY! There are many good characters among the latter, too, but the real action centers on Edward Fowler—the young, new principal at Central High, and Arbutis Meadows—the young, new English teacher. They are both strongly determined to win success in their new posts, but many obstacles happen along the way. The complications begin when Arbutis selects as the Senior Play she is to coach, a poetic” tragedy written by Hortense Anderson in free verse. When this play goes into rehearsal, the result is pure unadulterated hiltarity for the audience. Further complications arise from the triangle-like situation among Fowler, Arbutis, and Dolores Stone, daughter of C. Solomon Stone, tyrannical head of the local school board. These threads are skillfully woven into an entertainment that is sometimes droll and sometimes farcical, but unfailingly pleasurable, and well off the beaten track of plays for school audiences.
