5 m,fiehioR class histoRy The Class of 1965 began with ninety students. Our class officers were Frank Piliplck, president; William Broker, vice-president; Dixie Loudens lager, secretary; David West, treasurer; James Lepley, reporter; and John Ray Hacken-burg and Bruce Snook, Student Council members. Our class advisors were Mr. Leroy Evarts and Mr. Gerald Delling. Our Homecoming candidate was Dixie Louden-slager. In our sophomore year we had eighty-one student. Georgia Myers was elected president, Dixie Loudenslager as vice-president, Frank Piliplck as secretary, David West as treasurer, John Ray Hackenburg as reporter, and Mary Beth Price and William Broker as Student Council members. Our class advisors, Mr. Deloss Inman and Mrs. Lorene Meggison, lead us on our winding way. Patsy Case was our Homecoming candidate. For initiation we made the freshmen wear signs. At the evening party they had to roll onions across the gym floor and take part in the Witches Brew. Our hearts were grieved by the loss of our class-mate, John Chapman. At the beginning of our junior year our students num bered sixty-one. Our capable officers were: David West, president; James Lepley, vice-president; Marsha Dougherty, secretary; Roger Bryan, treasurer; John Stark, reporter; and Thelma Masters and Stephen Foster, Student Council members. Our class advisors were Mrs. Ramona Thaxton and Miss Helen Ressor. Our Homecoming candidates were Dixie Loudenslager and Julie McQueen. Our Wolverine delegates were Harolynn Barnes, Frank Piliplck, and Dennis Schumaek-er. In December we were confronted with presenting a play, The Cinderella Complex. With the help of our directors, Mrs. Mary DeCair and Mr. Royden Swa-ffield, we succeeded in raising a considerable amount of money. Our Junior Prom was entitled Tender as the Night , and we had a wonderful time decorating the gy» with a lowered ceiling complete with the stars and moon and a flowered fence. The toastmaster was Dennis Schumacker and the toastmistress was Dixie Loudenslager. With our eye on the future needs we worked energetically on two money making projects, a slave day and selling boxed candy. Our last and best year at last dawned on us. Sixty members were led by a fine president, Dennis Schumacker. His assistants were William Broker as vice-president, Thelma Master as secretary, Dixie Loudenslager as treasurer, Karo-lynn Barnes as reporter, and David West and Stephen Foster as Student Council members. Mr. Charles Thaxton and Mr. Robert Dunton were our capable advisors. Our Homecoming candidates were Dixie Loudenslager and Ute Leister. The crown was awarded to Ute Leister. David West and Stephen Foster were elected president and vice-president of the Student Council. David West was football Captain. William Broker, Gary Hughes, and David West received All State Honorable Mention in football. We were very proud of John Stark, William Broker, and David West because of their high rating in the National Merit Scholarship Test and they received letters of commendation for academic achievement. Patsy Case was Pep Club president, Gary Hughes was F.F.A. president, Janet Troyer and Mary Beth Kline were head librarians, Elaine lobe was D.A.R. Pilgrim, and Ruth Meggison was our Annual editor. John Ray Hackenburg was drum major and student band director. Der.nis Schumack-er was our sectional chairman at Government Day at the Sturges-Young Auditorium and Thelma Master was our capable reporter. Ute Leister was our exchange student from Germany. We enjoyed having her as fellow-classmate. We shall always treasure the memories of our trip to Washington, D.C. and New York City, our diplomas. Commencement exercises, and the many years spent with our classmates working, living, and playing together.
