The Varsity Club is an organization that was formed three years ago. lt is composed of athletes who have earned at least one varsity letter ln athletics. The membership of this club consists of active and honorary members. Active members are those who have earned major letters in sports. Honorary members are those who have been elected by the club for their devotion to the betterment of athletics in Colon High School. These honorary members are entitled to all privi- leges except those of voting and holding office. The main purpose of the club is to promote a high standard of athletics, to create a fellowship among varsity athletes, and to be of service to the high school, recognizing service with membership for those who excel. Following the concert the Brass Sextet played carols throughout the town. Mr. Clifford P. Llllya conducted a clinic for the Senior and Intermediate Bands in February which helped to prepare us for the contest at the last of the month. Their spring concert was given in April with some selections from current Broadway musicals. Awards were given at the Band Parents Banquet also in April. Activities that finished out the year were Mayorls Day, Memorial Day, Bacca- lureate, and Commencement. It ls evident that the Band is an integral part of the school and community just by the number of activities in which it appears.
