SECRETARY TO THE PRINCIPAL Mrs. V. Newby, our efficient school secretary, works closely with the principal in carrying out her many responsibilities. Answering the telephone, recording grades, Signing sick and tardy excuses, giving helpful advice to students, checking monthly reports, and making school-wide announcements are just a few of the countless jobs that Mrs. Newby must perform. THE CLERK In addition to keeping up with the academic records of the students and our alumni, Mrs. Seabron releases the absentee list to the faculty members after mimeographing and compiling them. 11

OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL Now in his second year as Assistant Principal at Huntington High, Mr. C. C. Johnson has worked diligently with the students to help them adjust to the environment at Hunt- ington. Students who have gone astray will testify to his never-ending patience and understanding. He has encouraged many students to follow the right path, and they have become outstanding citizens in our community. Our bookkeeper, Mrs. L. Kea, has the responsibility of keeping all records of the receipts and expenditures for the school. All school money passes through her hands, and she records all figures in the account books which in turn are audited by the city auditors. ''An indis- pensable lady! we woul d say. 10

Mrs, E, M, Green, one of the assistant principals and the Dean of Girls, has many duties to perform, One of them is assisting in the administration of college preparatory and scholarship examinations, She is seen above wel- prep coming Mr. Walter J. Hawkins who is to administer the Howard University examination to qualified seniors. Mr. Hawkins is the Director of Counseling Services of Foreign Students at Howard University, Washington, D.C, Mrs, Green has done much to assist the students here at Huntington by helping them with any problems that might confront them, She also takes time out from her busy routine to discuss any plans which students might have for the future, and often she sums up the discussion with helpful advice and encouragement. Her patience, 12 interest and keen insight have assured each student that he is free to take advantage of her counseling at any time.
