THE PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Members of the class of 1963: It is a high honor to extend you greetings on your graduation day. This event signals an achievement that merits the commendation -- well done. You stand on the threshold of the most challenging period in the history of man. Ac- complishments undreamed of but a decade ago have now become commonplace. The plans and purposes of your life must be significantly related to the present program of widespread change that characterize our modern world. Each of you must wisely assess your potentials and establish some goal to give your life meaning and direction. Determine to make the sacrifice that success demands. It is becoming increasingly more apparent that positions of responsibility and trust are by-products of merit. Since wars, hot and cold, have been your inheritance and crises your lot since birth, it will be your responsibility to find the answer. The peoples of the world can and should be free. You must be in the vanguard of those who seek to secure and maintain such freedom and justice as this land of ours can vouchsafe unto all its citizens. Those who labor and sacrifice for these blessings will ultimately arrive at the understanding among men without which there can be no lasting peace. While ages with there labels come and go, I would that you remember that there are, and always will be some eternal verities to guide your footsteps. Be a seeker after truth -- the high, fundamental, everlasting truth, the truth that transcends evil thoughts and deeds, that truth which alone can make us really free, the truth that is pleasing to HIM WHO is THE AUTHOR of all truths. Huntington will always be your school. The members of your staff who so fondly bid you adieu today will warmly greet you on tomorrow. We have not finished with each other. Our council will be yours until your development makes our feeble guidance no longer necessary.
